What is Winter in Data Science?

Winter in Data Science is your ultimate destination for comprehensive learning, exploration, and hands-on application in the realm of Al and ML-driven Data Analytics. Immerse yourself in the ML world through an extensive two-week boot camp and a user-friendly ML booklet that covers everything from Python basics to a sufficient grasp of Deep Learning. Following this boot camp, you can delve into a multitude of PROJECTS offered by the Analytics Club. It is a hands-on learning opportunity to learn ML and apply it through various projects offered.

WiDS 2025 Selection Procedure

Note: The timelines are tentative and subject to change based on the guidance of the project mentors.

Stage 01

Application for Projects

Please fill in your general motivation to apply and your previous work experience in the application form.

Stage 02

SOP shortlisting by WiDS team

This will help the mentors of WiDS gauge whether a student is really driven and will see the project through. Only one project will be allocated per student.

1st December ‘25 to 6th December ‘25
Stage 03

Mentor Allocation and Project Kick-off

Mentors will guide the mentees on material to refer and a tentative action plan. Mentor feedback forms will be released towards the end of December.

1st Week of December ‘25- 3rd Week of January ‘26

WiDS Bootcamp

Data Science Bootcamp in collaboration with School Of DS — Kickstart your journey into Data Science this December with our intensive 3-week bootcamp, specially crafted for beginners.

Spanning the first three weeks of December, the program pairs online self-paced resources with live interactive sessions and hands-on assignments. You can register whether or not you've applied for a WiDS project.

What you’ll get:

  • A complete introduction to data science — no prerequisites required.
  • Essential foundations: Statistics, Python programming, and Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA).
  • Core ML skills: supervised & unsupervised learning, with exposure to different models.
  • Insights into ensemble techniques and a peek into AutoML.
  • Regular assignments and projects for practical experience — ideal alongside your WiDS project or as an entry point to DS.

Here’s everything you need to know about applying, submitting SOPs, and managing your project preferences.

You can select up to 5 projects as your preferences and must write a separate SOP for each of them. If you add more than 5 projects to your wishlist, only the top 5 will be considered. Once you've finalized your choices, go to the 'My Projects' page and click on 'Submit Preferences'. You'll then be redirected to a page where you can write your SOPs and complete the final submission. After submitting your preferences, you won't be able to make any further changes.
